Georgia Horse Racing Coalition Names Kat Palma as Racing Reporter

ATLANTA - April 3, 2018 — The Georgia Horse Racing Coalition (GHRC) announced today that it has named Kathleen (Kat) Palma/Forestbird Photography as Racing Feature Writer and Photographer, in a move to provide original content and experience-based accounts to its readership from racetracks across the U.S. to horse racing fans in Georgia.

“The team effort that goes into bringing a race horse to the starting gate is something most fans never get to experience.” said Dean Reeves, GHRC President and owner of 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, Mucho Macho Man. “Kat’s narratives make readers feel like they’re along for the ride, and we’re excited to share her unique perspective with our supporters and new fans to horse racing.”

As qualifying races for the 2018 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks heat up, Kat’s coverage will commence on April 7 at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Opening weekend for Keenland’s spring meet, the race card will feature the Ashland and Blue Grass Stakes, for Oaks and Derby hopefuls, respectively.

With 100 qualifying points at stake in each contest, winners of each race will continue to Churchill Downs’ marquee events the first weekend in May, and so will Kat.
