Georgia Legislators Visit Keeneland

In preparation for the Georgia Legislative session that starts in January of 2017, GHRC along with Connectsouth Public Affairs hosted a group of Georgia State Representatives for a day at the races at Keeneland as well of a tour of Coolmore Stud, Lanes End and Darby Dan Farm.

We believe nothing convinces lawmakers more of what the Great American Sport of Horse Racing can bring to Georgia than seeing and hearing first-hand the economic impact racing offers not only to the host city of a race track, but the numerous surrounding rural communities.

A big thanks to our guest speakers over the two days that included Bill Thomason, President & CEO of Keeneland, Alex Waldrop, President & CEO of the NTRA, Senator Damon Thayer of Kentucky, James Gagliano, President & Chief Operating Officer of The Jockey Club and Matt Iuliano, Executive Vice President & Executive Director The Jockey Club.

Also thanks to Ellis Starr, National Racing Analyst at Equibase, for giving our group some nice winners!

And while he was not a guest speaker, our legislators did fall in love with American Pharoah.
